Lettering: extraordinary, everyday and ephemeral

This selection is from the Alan Bartram photographic collection, part of the Central Lettering Record, held at Central Saint Martins. Alan Bartram travelled the UK and Europe (Particularly Italy and Spain) photographing different letter forms as part of his research.

A variety of letter types and methods are shown. In addition, you can enjoy some incidental moments, captured in the photograph, over and above the creator’s original intention.
