The invitation, menu, handwritten placecard for Hubert Foss and illustrative booklet for the 81st Double Crown Club Dinner, which was chaired by RA Austen-Leigh and held at Kettner's Restaurant on 17 May 1945.
The discussion topic, introduced by member Noel Rooke, was the work of Edward Johnston. The invitation, printed on one side of a single sheet with a red crown device, introduces the discussion topic and speaker as well as giving the location, price and date of the dinner. The menu was designed by Ellic Howe. It is printed on one side of a piece of card and carries only the bill of fare, date, dinner number and location.
The 'Illustrations to a Paper on Edward Johnston by Noel Rooke. Read before the Double Crown Club at their 81st Dinner ' is a booklet consisting of eight sheets of paper within a printed pink paper cover, printed in red and black and showing annotated examples of typefaces.
