Two instances of the same commercial premises, showing the entire corner building and detail:

lettering on a rounded panel attached to the corner with a mortar and pestle sign on top. The panel includes the shop name and services offered: ‘J. HEWITT PHARMACIST AND PHOTOGRAPHIC CHEMIST. Established 1750’, combining slab serif and serif capital letters with lowercase. At fascia level raised capital unbracketed slab serif letterforms, reading ‘PATENT MEDICINES, TEA, OIL,’ ¸MEDICINES’. The third level shows the signs applied to the window from the inside: ‘PHOTOGRAPHIC SUPPLIES ILFORD DEVELOPING & PRINTING’. Location: Ulverston, North West England.
