This curated collection brings together objects, archives and artworks from across the University.
Multidisciplinary items have been selected for their ability to comment upon the broad theme of sustainability. Be it a film documenting mass degradation of the environment in the vast oil fields of China, a hand-bound book which considers future histories of the climate crisis, or artisanal objects which help to articulate methods of making which are both local and renewable.
This assemblage seeks to demonstrate the sheer vastness of subject contained in a single word. While “sustainability” can be easily embedded into dialogue, it must be an actionable value throughout all aspects of society, politics and corporation.
UAL recognises the climate emergency as one of our generations most urgent problems. A commitment to sustainable practice is a required part of the student learning experience. You can read more about the University’s response here.
