Black endpapers. Peat brown cloth boards. Design: on the front cover, an elaborate architectural frame in black outline inside a larger frame with billowing sides branching to outer stems bearing gilt circles; inside the frame, two erect stems bearing green thistles with gilt heads; in the centre, superimposed on an outlined cross, nine symmetrical stems in groups of three, the central group within the cross and bearing "peacock's crest" motifs, the outer groups spreading to form a cupped shape; two boldgilt blocked circles at the head of the cross, spaced circles, some gilt, at the edges of the cover; title in architectural sans serif capitals. Matching spine, title and publisher in gilt. Back cover as front, minus cross and no gilt. Signed: TM (LO/C32).
